Hand-carved from mangowood , the wine bottle holder is then layered with up to 20 coats of lacquer. Each coat must be dried completely before the next is applied. Then, egg shells are cracked into tiny pieces and arranged into the beautiful mosaic pattern, which is sealed with two extra coats of lacquer. Finally, after the last coat dries, the bottle holder is finely sanded under water for a smooth finish.
Did you know? Storing bottles horizontally is essential to preserving the wine, especially if you plan to age it. The wine is allowed contact with the cork, which stays moist and swelled to seal the bottle, preventing air from leaking in and ruining the wine.
