HANDPAINTED KIMONOS
Handpainted by master artisans, these silk kimonos are pieces of art themselves. Over the course of days, the artisans paints sections of the art work, allowing them to dry throughly before begining to add more details. When one side of the kimono is done, the artisans must ensure that the art work is completely dry before they can work on the other side. It requires extreme devotion to the arts and patients to render art on fabric as soft and delicate as silk.
The art work is inspired by a famous art collection in Hangchow, the silk capital of China. The themes in the art works are all very familiar to Chinese culture. The crane represents wisdom and longevity. The lotus flower is also a symbol for longevity. Birds represent vitality. They usually come in pairs and represents the lasting love between a couple.
